Beryllium is the 4th element in the periodic table and is an alkali-earth metal. Beryllium is steel hard gray metal and is pretty rare. The minerals which it is found in are, beryl and bertrandite. This element is found in the Earth's crust and mostly close to volcanoes. Only 3 countries in the world are involved in industrial scaled mining of beryllium, which are China, USA (supplying two thirds of the beryllium), and Russia. The production of Beryllium was stopped in Russia but was hoped to resume, in the mid 2020's. The person which discovered beryllium was a man named Louis-Nicolas Vauquelin in 1798. Beryllium is named after "beryllos", the Greek name for the mineral beryl.
