Titanium

Titanium is the 22nd element in the periodic table and it is a transition metal. It has a shiny sivery-white color with a low density but high strength. Titanium is a fantastic element to use because it can withstand corrosion in sea water, acids, and chlorine. It is even 40% lighter than steel but the strength is similar. Therefore, it is very useful as a material in space. It has many uses such as in jewelry, tennis rackets, scissors, bicycle frames, surgical tools, and mobile phones. However, titanium is not that abundant as it is only 0.63% of the earths crust (which is still somewhat abundant). Titanium is mostly found in Australia, South Africa, and Canada. The person that discovered titanium was William Gregor in 1791.
