Lawrencium is the 103rd element in the periodic table and it is the last actinide in the actinide series. It is a radioactive element which doesn't have a know appearence. It has no uses in real life other than research. This element is one of many artificial elements. It can be produced in particle accelerators by bombarding lighter elements with charged particles. To be more exact it puts californium in a linear accelerator with boron ions bombarding against it. The person that discovered this element was Albert Ghiorso, on February 14th, 1961. Lawrencium is named after Ernest O. Lawrence, who created the cyclotron in 1934. The cyclotron is the first particle accelerator and was one of the most important machines in discovering new radioactive elements.
